Voiceflow is a chat tool that gets embedded on websites. This page describes how Voiceflow can be detected technically, what obligation follows from Article 50 of the EU AI Act if you use Voiceflow, and how to check this yourself.
How Voiceflow is embedded technically
Voiceflow loads its widget from the following address(es): cdn.voiceflow.com. You can verify this in your browser's developer tools, under the "Network" tab, on any page you check.
Voiceflow also sets the JavaScript variable window.voiceflow on the page.
What this means for you
Voiceflow is an AI dialogue system. If you use Voiceflow on your website, the disclosure duty under Article 50(1) of the EU AI Act applies with certainty: anyone talking to the chat must be able to recognise that it is AI.
How to check this on your own site
Open your browser's developer console on your own site (usually F12) and type window.voiceflow. If that returns an object instead of "undefined", Voiceflow is embedded on the page.
What to do
Check whether the first message from your Voiceflow bot makes clear that an AI is responding. If it doesn't, add a disclosure right there — it has to appear in the first chat message, not in the legal notice.
