KI-Transparenz-Check

What belongs in an AI transparency notice on a website?

Short answer

Four points are enough: where AI is used on the site, where it deliberately is not, how it works technically, and when the statement was last accurate. Being linked and findable under a recognisable name matters more than length.

Why that is

Our check P4 looks for links whose text or target suggests a transparency notice — "AI Transparency", "AI Notice", "Use of AI" and the German equivalents. That is deliberately the outside view: something nobody can find is worthless as evidence, however well it is written. On content, the structure we use on our own AI notice page has held up well — this website is the first customer of our own scanner: use in the dialogue system, use in images, use in text, and how the core service works technically. Saying "no language model is involved here" is worth as much as the opposite statement: it is checkable, and checkable claims are what make the page hold up.

This is measured in check point P4 — Findable AI transparency notice (Art. 50).

What this means in practice

Write two or three sentences per point, and name the places where you do not use AI as explicitly as the places where you do. Link the page from the footer with a link text containing "AI". Keep it current: if a chatbot is added, it belongs on that page. An out-of-date transparency notice is worse than none, because it makes a statement that is no longer true.

Check it on your own page

P4 tells you whether we found such a link from the outside, and quotes the link text it found. When the check finds nothing although the page exists, the link text is almost always the reason, not the page.
